Title with five National Placers. Craig is a SWN All-American from Moses Lake, Washington (8-3 record). His high school coach was Dick Deane. The cover action was taken in the National Finals as Craig decisioned Ken Martin of Parkside State College, Wisconsin. |

Remember When ... March 1, Issue 1971 - Volume 6 Number 9 Does Pennsylvania Coach violate rulling???? Leaving seat during match?? Stan Mousetis, Wreslting Coach, Washington High School, Pennsylvania blasts off during a recent dual meet. Notice Coach Mousetis is not opening his mouth... as a matter of fact, it is tightly clamped! But his non-verbal communication is undoubtedly asking for one point for his wrestler. Washington High went on to win thier dual meet for a 3-1 record. Third from the right of Coach Mousetis is George Bryant, 112 pounder, undefeated for the season who is expected to be a strong contender for the USA JWWC. The Pennsylvania wrestlers will qualify for the National Selection Process Finals, Bakersfield, California (7-10 April) at millers State College, Millersville, Pennsylvania, Directors Jerry Swope and Jerry Barger, on 2-3 April. Remember When ... February 15, Issue 1971 - Volume 6 Number 8 1970 Sherburne Festival, Sherburne, New York. Jerry Siefert, SWN 1970 All-American, 1969 New York State Champion, 1970 Iowa State Champion attempts a Standup Escape on Gary Barton who counters with a crossbody. Jerry, in the white headgear, went on to win by a default after a 10-4 lead in the 143 lb. Finals, and captured his third Sherburne Festival Championship. Jerry is currently wrestling for North Dakota State University, Coach Bucky Maughm, and as of 1 January was9-1-0 for the season. Remember When ... February 1, Issue 1971 - Volume 6 Number 7 Fountain Valley, California Wrestler Dan Lewis wins another match at the Baldwin Park Tournament on his way to the 165 pound Championship. He has a 5-0 record for 1970-71, all of which have been falls. dan is a 2 year Irvin-League Champion and placed 3rd in the C.I.F. in 1970 at 157 lbs. Dan placed in every tournament entered and posted a record of 32 wins, 3 losses with 20 falls. He now stands 5th on all time win, loss record with 43-7 mark. Remember When ... October 1, Issue 1970 - Volume 6 Number 2 Maki, Japan - Kit Shaw of the Washington Cultural Exchange team is up off the mat after an excellent Double Leg Takedown of the boy on the Japanese team. Kit lost by a decision. The Washington High School team toured Northern Japan with an excellent record of 8 wins and 3 losses. Two dual meets were nationally televised. Shaw is from Sunnyside, Washington and finished with a 4-6-1 dual meet record. Shaw is an undefeated State Champion in the 1970 High School Championships. |
