Cover Photo: Steve Kinser, the 132 pound Indiana State champion. This picture was taken immediately after the fall was pronounced by the referee. Bloomington High School, won their fourth straight state championship. It was the closest margin of victiory in the history of high school wrestling in the state of Indiana. Bloomington H.S. won 33.5 to 33 over Beech Grove of Indianapolis. The extra fall point wich gave blomington the state title. Coach Kay Hutsell said "the photogropher captured the total joy of the victory in Steve's Reactions." "This has to be one of the greatests sports pictures of all time."

Cover Photo: No, it is not a Ritual in Mecca but a Stand Up attempt by Bob Deschner, Seymour, Indiana (Coach Walt Wintin). Wrestling is growing like alfalfa sprouts in the Hooser State. There are now over 275 high schools wrestling in Indiana. Bob Deschner of seymour High School starts a Stand Up as he wrestles Kyle Roe, center Grove, in the Finals of the Seymour Invitational. Bob won the Championship, 11-4, and finished the season with a 17-4-2 record. Seymour High won the team championship of the Invitional with eith individual champions and one runnerup. Cover Photo: The name of the Game... Pinning. Salem, Oregon. This year two wrestler at Mcnary High School have become known as the "Dynamic Duo". Doug Ziebart at 141 lbs. and Ron Boucher at 130 lbs. Last year Ziebart placed third in the High School State Tournament, and got a chance at the Junior World National with a fourth in Regionals. In Bakersfield he won two before losing out. Ziebart also placed second in the U.S.W.F. National Greco Tour in Eugene, Oregon. This year Ziebart's Record is 21-1. The one loss was a 1-0 in a recent tour. Doug is pictured pinning his opponent with a head and arm lock.

Pictured above is David with Coach Wilson immediately after the match wich was a part of the King County Cultural Exchange Meet with Japan during January. David is a part of 730 boys wrestling in Issaquah. Congratulations David (Ron Glass, Michigan Placed Third at Oonishi's weight in the Tokyo 1971 JWWC.)

Free Style competition. Jacot, 40-0, Clacier High School, Seattle, 1971 SWN All-American Honorable Mention, Coach dave Naibert, defeated Solaro, 22-1, New York State Runner-up.

Cover Photo: Scotty Miller, Trinity High School, Wahsington, Pennsylvania, 138 lbs. went undefeated untill the finals of the Pennsylvania State Tournament. At University Park, before 12,000 avid fans (there are no other fans like them), Dan Muther, Jersey Shore, 1971 SWN All-American, Stopped Scotty's 20-0-0 season record with a pin in 3:28. Miller gained 14 falls during the regular season. The cover photo shows one of these against his Peter Township opponent. Junior Miller, Coach Joe Shook, will take to the mats this season to regain his lost state championship

Cover Photo: New Jersey Prep School Champion Mike Lieberman, 178 lbs., controlls Larry Konowicz, St. Benedicts on his way to a 6-2 decison and his third state prep championship. Mike Pinned all tournement opponents in 3:50, 1:23, and :35. Michael John Lieberman (Coach robert Dalling) 178 pound Senior, from Blair Academy won his third consecutive New Jersey Prep State tournament title this year, and then went on to win both the episcopal Philadelphia Independent Prep Schools tournament for the second time and the YMCA Wilkes-Bare Open (over 600 entries). Michael's four year varsity record is 73-8-1. Mike is planning to attend Lehigh University next year

A fine citizen on and off the mats, Alan enjoyed the education of such a program and relaxed frequently in the hot tubs of the Olympic Village dormitories. He is attending Oklahoma State University.
