Two-time Wiscnson State Champion Grant Smith of DeForest tries to turn Dana Cushman of Fort Atkinson in the Quarter finals of the Wisconsin State Tournament. Smith won the match 5-1 on his way to becoming Wisconsin's 32nd two-time State Champion. Smith, a USWF Central Junior and Junior National Champion, has been named to the SWN All-America dream team featured on the foldout in this issue.

April 15, Issue 1978 - Volume13 Number 10
Two-Time Pennsylvania State Champion Mark Dugan of Moshannon Valley High School, Picks up near fall points durring his 1978 state championship finals match with Mark Kunkle of Lehighton High School. Dugan won the 119-lb. championship match 9-6 to pick up his second straight state title. dugan was 29-0 as a junior and finished his senior year with a 31-0-1 mark. He also was the only Pennsylvania "AA" State Champion to go undefeated durring the 1977-78 seson.

Colorado to Japan: Tim Antisdel, Castle Rock, Colo, 105.5 pounder was pinned in the first match and the Tokyo All-Stars jumped into the lead. "the Japanese are slicker than i thought they would be, "related Antisdel, "but they were also weaker than i had expected." the Yanks bounced right back and emerged with a 9-3 victory, the first of what turned out to be a clean sweep of eleven Japanese teams during the tour. The closest victiory came halfway through the trip against the Aomori team in Japan..

Stanley Kline of the Las vegas YMCA throwing a suplay is on his way to winning this 28th gold medal in a national championship. Stanley is a 14-year-old 8th grader who last year was the first black wrestler to win the World Age Group Championships for the USA At the completion of this match at the Western Naional Championships he had maintained a 96% pinning average. Oh yeah, one other thing- This young man is a straight "A" student.
